CALL TO ARTISTS – APPLY TO CREATE PUBLIC ART

PESP3 PUBLIC ART PROGRAMME (ARTBANKSA)

Apply to create art for a period of two (2) months under the PESP3 2022/2023 Art Creating ProgrammePublic Art.

BACKGROUND

The Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP3) 2022 is a government initiative supported by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, implemented by the National Museum, and coordinated by the Art Bank of South Africa, with the aim to reactivate the sector into the right path of the Economic Recovery and Reconstruction Plan (ERRP) post the COVID-19 pandemic.

PROGRAMME CONTENT

Art Creating – Public Art

This program will employ visual artists to create public art. Artists in this program may work in groups and collaborate on creating one or more large scale artworks that could become local attractions.

Monthly stipend for artists: R5 700 (for a maximum period of two months)

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

  • A completed application form is required. Submission forms can be found on the Art Bank of South Africa website www.artbanksa.org
  • Submit a CV (maximum 2 pages), please indicate which province and district you live and work in and exhibitions you have participated in (if any)
  • Must include an artist statement and brief profile
  • Certified ID copy
  • Account details confirmed by a stamped bank letter
  • Be willing to enter into a written Agreement.
  • Applicants must be registered on the Central Supplier Database (must have a MAAA number) and be SARS tax compliant.

The decision of the Council of the National Museum is final.

Nonadherence to the above criteria will result in the application being disqualified.
