Nkosinathi Gumede (b.1974) is the Assistant Project Manager of the Art Bank of South Africa (ArtbankSA) and is responsible for assisting the project manager, coordinating ArtbankSA activities. He attributes his interest in the arts to attending Saturday Art Classes in 1988 at the than Community Art Workshop in Durban. Subsequently, he has undergone art training in a number of organizations namely the African Art Centre (1996-1997) and Durban University of Technology. He has exhibited in a number of group exhibitions around the country and has held two solo exhibitions in Durban (African Art Centre in 2004) and in Johannesburg (Gordart Gallery in 2007).
Parallel to his artistic practice, Nathi is a founding member of the Visual Art Network of South Africa (VANSA), for which he chaired the KZN provincial office and later served as its National Deputy Chairperson. He has also served on the Durban Art Gallery Exhibitions Advisory Committee, Board of directors of the African Art Centre and the council of the KZNSA Gallery where he also chaired the exhibitions committee.
Nathi was the curator of the KZNSA Gallery (2007), Head Curator of Kizo Art Gallery (2009), Curator/Collections Manager at the Durban University of Technology (2010), lectured at the Centre for Fine Art, Animation and Design (CFAD) (2013-14) and was Art Collections Manager at Iziko Museums of South Africa, (SA National Gallery).
