Antoinette Strydom (b. 1997) is a dynamic multidisciplinary artist and heritage professional with a robust background in Fine Arts, Heritage, Museum, and Preservation Studies. She earned her BA Fine Arts degree from the University of the Free State in 2020, where she specialized in ceramics and sculpture. Antoinette’s artistic practice is complemented by a strong interest in curatorship and art handling, reflecting her dedication to both the creation and stewardship of art.
Antoinette has been an active contributor to the South African art scene, notably participating in the ArtbankSA Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme “Banking with Art – Connecting Lives” in 2020/2021. Her curatorial acumen was showcased in the “HOME” exhibition (2021) at Oliewenhuis Art Museum. She further honed her expertise in arts administration and project management during her tenure as an Admin Intern at the Art Bank of South Africa. In this role, she played a pivotal part in special projects, collaborations, and content creation for media platforms, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Her curatorial achievements include the successful curation of This is Us: Celebrating 29 Years of Freedom, which was featured as part of the Free State Arts Festival in 2023. Antoinette’s work is characterized by a meticulous approach and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that each project is executed with precision and care.
Currently, Antoinette is advancing her academic journey by pursuing an MSocSci in Heritage and Cultural Sciences with a specialization in Heritage Conservation at the University of Pretoria, building on her BSocSci (Hons) in Heritage, Museum, and Preservation Studies. Her academic and professional endeavors are driven by a passion for preserving cultural heritage and a dedication to the arts.
