BIOGRAPHY OF MAZIBUKO NKOSINGIPHILE
Nkosingiphile Mazibuko was raised in Soweto. He studied Fine Art at the Walter Sisulu University where he graduated in 2015. Mazibuko has worked as a graduate recruit at Umuzi Academy and artist at Egoli Textile Designs. Mazibuko is also a graduate of Friends of Design in Cape Town and now works on one of the nation’s most favourite comic books, Super Strikes. He has also collaborated on the MTV SHUGA drama series comic book, the literacy program Bookdash in 2017. He was the designer for the children’s book “And Also” collaborating with the writer Lauren Beukes and Anja Venter the illustrator. He went on to collaborate on another book “Where is Lulu” with writer Mahale Mashogi and Clyde Beech the illustrator. He later collaborated on South Africa’s first black superhero comic book name Kwezi, as an Inker, Colourist and letterist on issue 10, 11 and 12. Mazibuko explained that “drawing and illustrating is a camera I use to capture everything in my surroundings”. He credits his mother with everything he knows about art.
