BIOGRAPHY OF LUNGISANI NDLOVU
Lungisani was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal in 1993 and later moved to Mariannhill near Pinetown. As a child, Lungisani enjoyed creating art and showed promising talent by winning art awards as both a Primary and Secondary School learner.
When fellow artist, Sthenjwa Luthuli, introduced Lungisani to the BAT Centre, he decided to pursue training in Visual Art in 2015. He later enrolled for the Velobala Saturday art classes at the African Art Centre at the Durban University of Technology. The Velobala classes offered Visual Art instruction and Fine Art education to young creative artists located away from the traditional urban clusters of the arts infrastructure. Lungisani was then given the opportunity to collaborate with Prof. Zanele Muholi in her Somyama Ngonyama Project.
