Candice is an art-historian and curator with more than five years’ experience as a full-time lecturer. She obtained her Master’s degree in Art History and Visual Culture Studies from the University of the Free State. She also holds an Honours degree in Art History and Visual Culture Studies from the same institution, and part of which she completed at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. She has curated solo and group exhibitions at Norval Foundation and Boschendal. Inspired by her work as a collections manager, Candice’s research interests include contemporary art from the African continent and its diaspora, as well as institutional and personal archives.
Candice’s achievements include the Mail and Guardian 200 Young South Africans award (2017), The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship (2016) and the Abe Bailey Bursary (2016). She has served on committees and boards in the arts including the University of the Free State (UFS) Art Gallery’s advisory committee and the board of the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) in Cape Town.
