Shenaz Mahomed

Artist

Shenaz Mahomed, born in 1992, is a Pretoria based artist who works predominantly in the medium of hand cut paper. She obtained a BA degree in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria in 2014 and is currently (2018) completing her MA (FA) there. She was the Curator at Fried Contemporary Art Gallery for 4 years.  Mahomed  is  now  the  Curatorial  Assistant  and  Logistics Manager at the Javett  Art  Centre  at  the University  of  Pretoria.

Mahomed has participated in a number of  prestigious art competitions in South  Africa. She  was  awarded  as  the  winner of the 2016  David  Koloane  Award  with the Bag  Factory.

Mahomed’s  work can  be  found  in  the art  collections of Absa, Department of Arts and Culture, University of Pretoria, Tiwani  Contemporary  (UK), as   well as  the   private collections of Wayne Barker, Gavin Rajah and Vusi Beauchamp.

She has successfully curated three group shows at Fried Contemporary titled ‘Young Collectors’ in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
