BIOGRAPHY OF THABANI MSOMI
Thabani was born in 1973 in Congella and from an early age, harbored aspirations of becoming a great artist one day. However, the path to success was difficult due to his hearing disability. As a hearing impaired person, he expresses his feelings to a society of what he refers to as ‘illiterate hearing people’. Msomi jokes that if people were literate, then, they would understand sign language because it is so basic.
As a spiritual person with an eye for detail, a young Msomi, began painting with his mother’s support. Thabani traded art classes for sign language tutorials. This was an essential move for someone with a sense of humor and is considered a socialite. To Thabani, art was his first love and still remains his passion.
