Press Release – Tswela Pele: First Collection of Art Bank of South Africa KZN Launch Exhibition
Tswela Pele is an exhibition of selected works from the Art Bank of South Africa’s first contemporary visual art collection purchased in the 2018/2019 year. The 60 artworks on show represent artists from seven provinces in South Africa. The featured artworks explore a variety of themes from everyday experiences and life patterns to the existential, from the male transculturalism to the female response to social conditioning and examination of the patriarchal cultural construct.

Tswela Pele: New Acquisitions of the Art Bank of South Africa features artworks selected and purchased from the over 200 submissions received for consideration in October 2018 by the Art Bank.

Fresh from a successful launch exhibition in Bloemfontein December 2017 the Art Bank of South Africa (artbankSA) will be exhibiting in Johannesburg in November 2018. ArtbankSA will be showcasing the best of South African contemporary art, primarily the work of emerging artists. This is a call to South African artists to submit artwork to be considered for the exhibition
